Norman I. Meyer, M.D.
Dr. Norman I. Meyer was born in Monticello, New York. He graduated from Cornell University in 1966, earning a Bachelor’s degree in chemistry. After earning his M.D. from State University of New York , Downstate Medical Center in 1970, he began a medical internship at Emory University Hospitals in Atlanta, GA. After a year, Dr. Meyer signed up for the U.S. Air Force, and spent 2 years serving as a flight surgeon, stationed out of Barksdale AFB, LA. After which, he returned to Emory University Hospitals and completed a Medical Residency. In 1974, he began his ophthalmology residency at Medical College of Georgia, Augusta, GA.
In 2012, Dr. Meyer joined our team. Dr. Meyer is a dedicated member of the Sebastian Lion’s Club. The Lion's Club is a non-profit program that not only helps uninsured and disadvantaged members of the community obtain eye exams and glasses, but they are also responsible for many of the City of Sebastian events such as the Fourth of July parade and events, Clam Bake, fundraising efforts for the Special Olympics, St. Baldrick's, etc.
Dr. Meyer resides in Sebastian with his wife, Joyce. Together they have 2 sons, 2 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
After 43 years as a respected ophthalmologist in our community, Dr. Meyer retired in December of 2020 so he could devote his energies toward his family and giving back to the community.
