Norman I. Meyer, M.D.

Dr. Norman I. Meyer was born in Monticello, New York. He graduated from Cornell University in 1966, earning a Bachelor’s degree in chemistry. After earning his M.D. from State University of New York , Downstate Medical Center in 1970, he began a medical internship at Emory University Hospitals in Atlanta, GA. After a year, Dr. Meyer signed up for the U.S. Air Force, and spent 2 years serving as a flight surgeon, stationed out of Barksdale AFB, LA. After which, he returned to Emory University Hospitals and completed a Medical Residency. In 1974, he began his ophthalmology residency at Medical College of Georgia, Augusta, GA.
After working a long and fulfilling career as a full-time ophthalmologist and surgeon, in 2012 Dr. Meyer joined our team as a part-time physician so that he could spend time pursuing other duties and give back to the community. Dr. Meyer is a dedicated member of the Sebastian Lion’s Club. The Lion's Club is a non-profit program which not only helps uninsured and disadvantaged members of the community get eye exams and glasses, but they are also responsible for many of the City of Sebastian events such as the Fourth of July parade and events, Clam Bake, fundraising efforts for the Special Olympics, etc.
Dr. Meyer resides in Sebastian with his wife, Joyce. Together they have two sons, two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
